Insurance

Our main objective is for all our patients to have an enjoyable experience while receiving excellent dental care.  When it comes to finances, everyone has concerns and we understand the  importance of both parties being informed and being able to communicate.  We hope to accomplish this goal by providing you with the following information.

If you have dental insurance, our office will file claims as a courtesy to you.  Our office is not a contracted provider with any insurance company.  This means, any balances remaining AFTER insurance pays are your responsibility. Understanding your insurance coverage can be quite challenging.  Our goal is to assist you in maximizing your benefits to the best of our ability.  The insurance carriers will not guarantee their information, so we regret that we cannot be responsible for any discrepancies in benefits reported.  We encourage you to become familiar with your policy exclusions, frequency limitations, deductibles and required co-payments.

For your convenience, we have devised a list of common questions that you should ask of your insurance company so that you can be more familiar with your individual plan (common questions).

OUR COURTESY SERVICES TO YOU INCLUDE:

Filing your insurance claim within one business day

Requesting your benefit payment be sent to our office.

Researching general dental benefits and eligibility

When necessary, researching and following up on problem or past due claims

Send Pre-Treatment Estimates at your request - prior to treatment

OUR EXPECTATIONS OF YOU AS THE OWNER OF THE POLICY:

Payment of estimated fees not covered by insurance on day of treatment.

Not all of the insurance companies (i.e., Delta Dental), will send benefits to our office, even though we have requested them to do so.  You may receive payment directly.  If you do, you must:

Endorse check and make payable to Dr. Cowles

Send us the check along with the explanation of benefits (EOB) so that we can post the payment to the correct visit and close your claim

OR send personal check for total amount due.

Be aware that some dental insurance policies restrict payment for some services, use restricted fee schedules (called Usual and Customary Rates) and exclude some procedures based on prior conditions or length of time on the plan.

All restrictions from your insurance carrier are based on the premium paid for your specific insurance plan, agreed upon by your employer, NOT due to our fees or our recommended treatment.

Taking responsibility for payment in full in the event that your insurance carrier delays or denies payment.

Keeping us informed of all changes with insurance coverage/employment.
