Avoid any sticky, hard or chewy foods on the side of the mouth where treatment was performed. These type foods (hard candy, nuts, popcorn, caramel, chewing gum, etc.) can break the provisional restoration or cause it to come off. In the event a temporary comes off, call the office immediately to have it re-made or re-cemented. If the temporary remains off for a long period of time, some shifting of the teeth can occur and you run the risk of the permanent dental work not fitting - in which case the treatment would need to begin again with new impressions, etc.
